Fashion and Lifestyle inspiration brought to you by Kendra Scott.
In my last week’s Fashion Friday, I perused the spectrum of hues that are all the rage for Fall. This week, I am zoning in on my favorite. Electrify your look with one of the most brilliant colors to hit my latest collection: cobalt. Drawing inspiration from the deep hues of the pacific and the rich waters of the Grecian coasts, cobalt is sure to thrill your color palate. What a bright and bold way to accessorize for the Fall!
I decided to incorporate it into several of my most popular styles, including the Nyla earring, as well as new Fall styles like the Vaughn ring to show off this tasty tint. If cobalt tickles your fancy as much as it does mine, then check out these fabulous fashion-forward makeup products that the experts at Elle.com have featured as top-trending beauty buys including YSL's Rivera Blue Water Resistant Cream Eye Shadow and Face Stockholm Liquid Eyeliner Collection but remember, a little goes a long way):
And while on the subject of Elle, their PR Director Erin Kaplan rocks an adorable cobalt dress while filming The City in NYC.
If you are in the mood for something more drastic, try pairing cobalt with its complementary color, orange, just as Katie Holmes did at the Met Ball. For everyone else, stick to Erin’s casual yet cool style and mix cobalt with earth tones, such as grey and camel. I am completely cobalt obsessed this season and you should be too!
I am completely and utterly in love. Last July 4th weekend I brought home a puppy and our lives have been forever changed and our house became a home. Thank you Lucy for giving us pure joy, loving all of us with your whole heart and greeting us each day with such enthusiasm! No matter what kind of day any of us may be having, the minute we walk in the door Lucy jumps onto us covering our faces with kisses. It is an immediate stress killer! I don’t know what life was like before Lucy came, all I know is that we are all overflowing with joy from a romping, stomping 8 pound ball of fluff.
And since I love anything stylish, here are a few of my favorite fashionable doggie items.................
This is my favorite modern lucite dog bed...pricey but oh so hot! Petbitat has a fantastic selection of designer pet products. I'm ordering this trendy dog bed for Lucy today! And then I found this lucite dog bowl to match from The Posh Puppy Boutique. How sleek is that!
I am all about color, so I was excited to see one of Style.com’s featured trends for the fall is tonal hues - and not just a singular article of clothing mind you, but one hue from head to toe! As this wave of pigment rolls in, it is only apropos to complement your clothing with a delicious rich piece of colorful jewelry. Of course, I can help with this! You can design away using the kaleidoscope of shades on my Color Bar, but if designing is not in your cards, check out my best-selling Danielle Earring. It will play as the perfect prismatic partnership to the fall’s most vibrant runway looks.
Runway looks by Brian Reyes, Ohne Titel, Martin Grant, Salvatore Ferragamo, Halston and Marc Jacobs.
As we transition into Fall, I wanted to share with you Tom Ford’s take on twelve classic lip colors, from Vanilla Suede to Moroccan Rouge.
"There is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip," says Ford. "It is the focus of the face and has the power to define a woman's whole look."
The new Private Blend Lip Color Collection is formulated with rare and exotic ingredients, including soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil. The luxurious formula has an ultra-creamy texture for an incredibly smooth application. Specially treated color pigments are blended to deliver pure color with just the right balance of luminosity.
And like Ford's Private Blend perfume line, the products can easily be layered to achieve greater depths of color. With the expansive palette ranging from nude to pink to coral to red to purple, experimentation is a must. At $45 each,Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color is a serious beauty buy, but one that you're likely to wear daily making it well worth the investment.
Check out the collection at www.tomford.com. It is available online at www.neimanmarcus.com.
Over the last few months three of my best girlfriends have either had or are about to have a baby. I recently went with my girlfriend to register for her shower and was so amazed by many of the new products that are now available to moms. A totally brilliant product that would have come in handy when I was nursing several years ago is called Milkscreen. It tests your milk for alcohol to make sure your milk is safe for your baby. We all know what it is like to go out for date night or a night out with the gals and come back home to nurse or pump and not be sure if your milk is safe for your baby to drink. This is a very useful tool and one that helps both mommy and baby! This product was recently featured on Keeping Up with the Kardashians! The company UpSpring Baby that developed Milkscreen is right here in my home town of Austin, Texas and develops innovative products for babies. So mamas, go treat yourself to that glass of wine without any worries!
Milkscreen is available at Target, Amazon.com and at most of your local drugstores.
With Labor Day less than a month away, it is time to slip into those white jeans before it is fashionably illegal. That is why I will be wearing my Nyla earrings in white mother-of-pearl paired with the fabulous Abena cuff.
Here is how I will complete my super chic summer look:
Skinny cargo jeans are all the rage this season and have been seen on everyone from superstar Kim Kardashian to young mom Jessica Alba.
These Alice + Olivia white skinny cargo jeans are available on shopbop.com and currently marked down from $220 to $154!
To balance out the military inspired look on bottom, I would suggest pairing the cargos with a girly blouse. This Geren Ford open shoulder tee in light blue adds the perfect amount of polish to the look, and is also available on shopbop.com.
To go from day to night, start out with the Tory Burch “Miller” thong in gold (tremendously comfortable). When night falls, jazz it up with the strappy Michael Kors “Jennings” sandal--these will pair well with the skinny cut of the jeans around the ankles! Both are available at Nordstrom.com — one of my all time favorite one-stop shopping sites for amazing shoe finds!
Be sure to send in photos of your marvelous get-up in white wearing KS jewels and I'll feature you here on our blog!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Dress for Success (DFS) is an organization that is very near and dear to my heart. DFS helps thousands of disadvantaged women throughout the United States to promote their economic independence by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. I have seen first hand the incredible impact that DFS has on so many women and now you can help too! DFS is always looking for career clothing that you may be ready to pass on, but one thing they also need is accessories! If you have any handbags or work totes that you are ready to pass on DFS would be thrilled to have them. You can take your gently used handbags to a local affliate of DFS here is a link for so you can find a location near you, dressforsuccess.org.
We at Kendra Scott also wanted to do our part for DFS, so we developed a program called Buy One, Give One, as featured on The Rachel Ray show (click here to view the inspiring segment). Buy any piece of jewelry at kendrascott.com and we will give a Hope Pendant necklace to a DFS client along with at $7.50 donation to the organization. We have given close to 1,000 necklaces and $7,500 to DFS already this year! Give Hope to a DFS client today!
And when you clean out your closet, you make room for fresh new items! A colorful, bold clutch is my go-to when I want to spice up a simple outfit. I usually go for bags with color or interesting embellishments or both, like this studded turquoise Rebecca Minkoff clutch. For a bit more edge check out this great cross-body convertable clutch with brass studs and fringe by Cleobella found at shopbop.com. So fun!
Traveling the world is not only my passion, but my dearest inspiration. That's why I, like so many other women, could not put down the wonderful book “Eat, Pray, Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. While I have yet to make it to Indonesia, I could certainly connect to the lead character's Italian adventures (I have a few of my own to share). I can’t wait to see Julia Roberts starring in the film adaption that hits theatres on Aug. 13th. Until then I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite EPL inspired items. Enjoy!

So very soon we will all be desiring to drape ourselves in the rich colors of autumn, but until then let's continue celebrate the summer season! You can do this with the help of Essie, who launched a FABULOUS line of colors for their 2010 Summer Collection. With flirtatious names like “Demure Vixen” and “Knockout Pout,” you won’t want to let your nails go bare! From Essie's six fresh colors, I was inspired to create some jewels in my Color Bar. It is all about having fun, being creative and expressing yourself in new ways!
What colors inspire and define you?
