My Nordstrom 2011 Debut

I am excited to announce that Kendra Scott Jewelry is now available at all 116 Nordstrom stores across the country. I cannot explain the sense of accomplishment I felt when I saw my jewelry beautifully displayed in their cases this past weekend.

Nordstrom hand picked original color combinations, from electric hits of orange coral to lustrous hues of blue agate. I have to admit, my Spring/Summer 2011 collection is a knockout! My Mom is the Best!
I can never thank my mother enough for all that she has given me. A beautiful bouquet of aromatic flowers, a homemade card filled with poems and memories, or a dinner celebration complete with family and friends will never amount to the love and graciousness I have for her. Yes, Mothers Day is right around the corner, but the importance of showing our appreciation each and every day matters most! My dear mom has been a role model for me ever since I can remember. She has taught me the ins and outs of life, and is now such a crucial part of both my family and growing company. "Mama Janet" is not only a mother to me, but a mother to my staff. She is the backbone to my KS team and an absolute joy to work with. I am a lucky girl to have the most important person in my life by my side each and every day. Thank you mom for all that you do for me. You have molded me into the person I hope you wanted me to be, and I love you with all of my heart!

Breaking Boundaries Like the Infamous Lady Gaga

From the cover of Harper's Bazaar to last week's Glee episode and appearing on the Ellen show everyone is going gaga for Gaga! Sporting heelless platform shoes, studded leather jackets and one of a kind hair accessories, the fashion extraordinaire is an inspiration worldwide. Being one of her biggest fans, I undoubtedly attended her recent Monster Ball at the Frank Erwin Center. The concert was unbelievable! As my friends and I sang (or rather shouted) "Rah Rah Ooh La La," Gaga made our night one to remember! Fans dressed as "little monsters" in face paint, tutus, and a plethora of rhinestone leotards, adding to the magnetism of the night.

I think some of my most recent pieces scream Gaga - even if they are a bit more Gaga-light!

These rocker, avant-garde inspired jewels are something that I know the pop diva would love! A few bold and bright colors mixed in with silver, gold, and bronze electric styles are unique to my collection. Austin has just about every delicious, delectable dessert you can imagine. If you enjoy forgetting about those insignificant calories like I do from time to time, take a tour of Austin's cupcake paradise! Sugar Mama's Bakeshop which is a South Austin favorite and Polkadots Cupcake Factory, nestled in the center of campus chaos are two of my beloved choices. Nothing beats Hey Cupcake! which is just a stroll away from my KS retail store. Their cream cheese and chocolate Michael Jackson creation is to die for! Cupcakes are our signature treat at Wednesday Girls Night Out and various other events. I love to try out new palatable flavors and I may even stop by Delish Cupcake this weekend and delight myself in the ever so popular s'more special that I have yet to indulge in. Celebrate Earth Day with Kendra Scott and Her Team!

With its theme of A Billion Acts of Green®, Earth Day 2011 is already on its way to being bigger than last year's 40th anniversary! There are so many simple actions you can take both today and every day to help protect our earth. The question is, what will YOU do to make this day a success? The Earth Day Network is receiving pledges from people around the world and entering them into their sweepstakes to win two smart cars! You can enter your act of recycling, riding a bike, or planting a tree on the Billion Acts of Green website.

Here are a few gratifying green ideas that you can take part in to support mother nature!

I am challenging myself and my team to enjoy Earth Day by paying attention to the beautiful surroundings Austin has to offer. I am also asking that they pick up trash they may see on the ground and take a pledge that they will continue going green for the rest of the year!

Sending KS Love to the Brave Men and Women Overseas!

My dear friend James is so bravely fighting for freedom overseas alongside his troop the Bravo Company. He is on his third tour in Afghanistan, serving as a Marine for our country. The KS team and I have joined forces to put together the ultimate care package for him. We are sending an abundance of magazines, pasta, canned goods, jerky, cleansing wipes, and other necessities to show our appreciation and love! It is the least we can do to say thank you for all that our troops do for us.

Each of the Bravo Company Platoons are executing unique missions. It is incredible to see the impact that they are making on communities in Afghanistan. The 3rd Platoon has recently opened a vocational school where carpentering skills are being taught to both children and adults. These men and women are helping improve school systems in the area and working with citizens to build a local police force. They do so much to help others, and it is crucial that our country rally together and support our troops!

The Bravo Company sadly mourn the loss of two courageous men this month. Staff Sgt. Jeremy Smith and Navy Hospitalman "Doc" Benjamin Rast. This Marine and Sailor made the ultimate sacrifice while honorably serving a country they both loved. We share our condolences with their family and friends. Our prayers and thoughts are with everyone overseas.

Denim is one fabric that has been timeless throughout fashion, and it has certainly taken a front seat in 2011. I am loving the variety of denim trends both on the runways and the stars! Don't ditch the denim when the weather turns warm--spice it up and accessorize with lighter denim jeans, denim-inspired shoes, belts, hair pieces, and handbags. This look is a must have for your spring/summer wardrobe.

For a fashion forward look, accessorize with a denim blazer. Kristin Cavallari adds a touch of sass to her black skinny jeans by sporting this trend. Blazers are a great upgrade from your everyday jean jacket, and you can go from work to weekend in no time!

70s groove and glam is back! High waisted, wide-legged trousers are all the rage. Tuck in a loose blouse and pair them with a skinny belt to make your waist line look great!
