Top Austin SoCo Spots

As SXSW is fast approaching, I wanted to dedicate a few entries to why I love Austin! There is so much to do in this bustling city that I thought I would share a few of my Austin favorites.

Some have called it an oasis in the middle of Texas, others have said it is the Jewel of the South, I just call it...home. This laid back city brims over with creative energy and wonderfully warm people. I have been blessed to start both my business and my family in a city that wraps its arms around their own. I wanted to share some of my favorite things to do and places to see.
Spend an afternoon on eclectic South Congress...Eat lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant Guero's. The margaritas are to die for and the food is out of this world!

For dessert stop by Hey Cupcake located across the street in an airstream trailer... so yummy!

Browse some of Austin's coolest boutiques from vintage shops like Uncommon Objects or splurge at the hip and cool By George.

Tell me if you know of any hidden gems!!

Love,

Vivid Color and Patterns! Spring 2010 Trends

Oh the fun of vibrant color, patterns and texture! The pages of magazines right now are drenched in warm and richly experimental tribal looks. In the March edition of Lucky magazine, one major SS10 trend is creating lavish details with fringe and African seed beads. Diane Von Furstenberg, one of my absolute favorite designers, goes tribal deluxe along with the fresh styles of Thakoon and Brian Reyes.

Dressing Up Your LBD for Valentine's Day

As soon as February rolls around I can’t help but get giddy with thoughts of romance and sparkles. As I begin to think about a hot date night with my husband, I start planning my outfit and fixate on jazzing up a classic little black dress – it is a staple in any girl’s closet so it’s time to bring it out, wear it like new again and adorn it with some colorful pieces. If you are looking for that perfect LBD, Diane von Furstenberg has some fun and flirty options.

When I walked the red carpet at The People’s Choice Awards in January, I went for a drop dead gorgeous Dior dress and wore my custom designed necklace in green jade. The Thia necklace is a great option from my new Spring 2010 collection (as seen here in white mother-of-pearl) and would compliment just about any LBD neckline. To complete the look, add a metallic or nude patent leather shoe like these Christian Louboutin's (www.christianlouboutin.com) that can be worn time and time again. I am smitten with my gold Louboutin’s and I make my dollar stretch by wearing them with every color under the sun for all seasons! Get the look you desire for less with a Siegerson Morrison heel.

Take joy in a day that is devoted to love and celebrate with pops of color wherever you can find it…flirt with red with my fabulous Sona earrings, smile bright with my bold Maeve chandelier earring in chalcedony and turquoise (www.kendrascott.com). And finish it off with a show

stopping cuff… it’s a great way to add color to your LBD and make every head turn when you walk in the room!

Now it is time to create your Valentine’s look. Email me pictures of how you’ve dressed up your little black dress with your favorite Kendra Scott Jewelry and I will post the best on this site! Email your photos to info@kendrascott.com.

Have a love struck Valentine’s Day!
